Peter van Pels

Peter was given this board game as a present for his sixteenth birthday on 8 November 1942. Peter had plans to go to the Dutch East Indies after the war. In her diary, Anne Frank writes:

‘After I’d explained some French to him, we began to talk. He told me that after the war he wanted to go to the Dutch East Indies and live on a rubber plantation. He talked about his life at home (…) and what a hopeless case he is. I told him he had a big inferiority complex.’

The Diary of Anne Frank, 16 February 1944.
