Anne from Frankfurt

Anne was born on June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt am Main in Germany. She spent the early years of her life there together with her parents Otto and Edith Frank, and her sister Margot.

The family feels at home in Frankfurt, where Anne’s grandmother and grandfather and a few uncles and aunts live as well. Still, Anne’s parents decide to leave. They are Jewish, and for them life in Germany is too dangerous. In 1933, a political party has come to power that propagates hatred towards Jews. The party’s leader is Adolf Hitler, and its members are called Nazis. The party even has a kind of private army, the SA. There are street fights between the Nazis and their political opponents.
